Hi, I’m Simone.
I’m 31, married to Mike, and we live in rural South Australia. We have two beautiful little girls- Annika, who’s two and a half, and Zoe, who was born on the 1st of October, 2014. We found out at Zoe’s 20 week antenatal scan that neither of her kidneys were formed properly- something called bilateral multicystic dysplastic kidneys. Although the outcome is very poor for most babies with this, Zoe has a tiny bit of kidney function which was enough to allow her to survive to birth and the days after birth, although not enough to keep her from requiring dialysis and eventually a kidney transplant.
This blog is mainly to document our journey and what God’s teaching us as we walk through this with Him.
The title of this blog is from Revelation 21: 4, which someone pointed out to me very early on after we got the diagnosis. It gives me hope- how we want that day to be here!
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Thanks for visiting! Please feel free to comment and let me know you’ve been here, I love having visitors.
(Photo will soon be updated to include Zoe, when I finally manage to get a photo of all of us together!)
